In the summer of 2011 Surdas and a dear friend began making ektars to deepen their connection to god within, through chant and song. The ancient simplicity of the ektar (one string), allows the devotee to focus completely on the divine vibration within the heart. The songs and inspiration for "Covered in Song" evolved out of Surdas' evening journeys alone with the ektar under the stars. Sacred songs that come from the great mystery, have a vibrational quality that "covers" the listener and singer with divine geometric patterns that resonate from the source of creation. These patterns offer protection, uphold a state of devotion to god, and inspire feelings of love and gratitude for all beings. Surdas and Vajra offer up so much gratitude to the spirits and wonderful artists and musicians who made this vision possible. You know who you are!
